HOT WHEELS IN PRESCOTT

PRESCOTT - The Prescott Joint Parks and Recreation Department hosted their third annual car and truck show at Field View Park on Saturday afternoon. Just over 20 cars, trucks and motorcycles participated in the event, a significant increase over the six to eight entries last year. Four members of the Combat Veterans #10 motorcycle group from Walla Walla joined the show after attending a funeral in Dayton.

Spectators enjoyed a relaxing afternoon visiting in the shade while enjoying free chilidogs, chips and soft drinks prior to the People's Choice award ceremony at 3 p.m. Gary "Butch" Hayes took first place with his flaming yellow '49 Ford, Bob Hillweg took second with his '53 Chevy pickup and third place went to Joe Jackson and his '65 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. A bright yellow Goldwing three-wheeler walked away the winner in the motorcycle division. A special prize was awarded to the owner of an old "convertible" International dump truck, who made the hot and bumpy ride clear from Milton-Freewater.
