An astounded Dayton resident called the Columbia County Sheriff's Office last week after observing two llamas (they are actually alpacas) in a neighbor's front yard having lunch. Dayton city animal control officers responded immediately to corral the docile, humming creatures. It turns out, they live in the backyard of this residence on the corner of S. 5th and Eckler streets. The alpaca on the right sees its moment of freedom coming to an end (note its drooping ears). The animals were returned to their enclosure without further incident.
