August 26

Bale of hay burned and fishing poles stolen from horse trailer at Waitsburg Fairgrounds.

August 27

Person on Neal Lane arrested on Columbia County warrant.

August 29

Vehicle struck power pole on Whoopemup Hollow and Mill Race Roads.

Dayton

August 22

Abandoned car reported off the road in an embankment at the junction of Thorn Hollow and Weinhard roads. Deputies investigated and discovered that the red 1996 Ford Mustang was recently stolen out of Walla Walla. Vehicle was impounded and processed by Walla Walla law enforcement. No arrests were made. No suspect was on scene. Also reported: illegal camping on Marengo Grade Road, trespassing on South Willow Street, speeding near new windmill construction off Mead Road, erratic driver who turned out to be tired, deer struck by vehicle near the Lewis and Clark Trail State Park, and a prowler on East Commercial Street who was gone before deputies arrived.

August 23

Firearm recovered in Walla Walla that had been stolen from a Columbia County residence in March. A citizen lost a cell phone while riding their bike in Dayton, exact location unknown. Illegal bonfire extinguished on West Commercial Street. Tree blocking both lanes on Whetstone Road. Burglar stole several personal items from residence on South 3rd Street.

August 24

Standing wheat damaged by unknown vehicle on Bruce Road.

August 25

Car smeared with feces overnight on East Spring Street. Harassment reported on Lower Hogeye Road. Two vehicles prowled, nothing reported missing, on South 1st Street. Suspicious person on East Commercial Street. Two deer struck by vehicle at junction of Petticord and Kellogg Hollow roads, injured but ran from scene.

August 26

Half a dozen cows in the roadway on South Touchet. Suspicious person with snake and belongings seen by the Dayton Memorial Library, resolved without incident. Trespassing and theft reported on East Commercial Street.

August 27

Speeding wheat truck reported on Turner Road. Bicycle found on South 4th Street. Fraud reported at Valley View Court.

August 28

Possible theft of firearms reported on East Richmond Avenue. Victim was concerned a juvenile might have the firearms with him at school. Dayton School District was notified and immediately responded with a lock down until deputies determined this was a false alarm. Stray dog reported on South 3rd Street. Theft of motorcycle license plate reported on South 3rd Street. Deer struck and killed on Tucannon Road.
