Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Dear Editor,
Cooper's stories are unraveling
As the November election comes near, the stories that sheriff candidate Cooper wants us all to believe are falling apart.
At a recent debate Cooper reluctantly admitted he has filed bankruptcy and left his creditors high and dry. So he can't balance his own checkbook, has filed a full bankruptcy, screwed his creditors, drives around in his big black Hummer, and bought a police car for his campaign, but claims Turner is the one who spends frivolously by buying equipment for deputies? And Cooper now wants to run the sheriff department? NOT MY TAX DOLLARS!
Cooper has only showed to about half the debates, angrily walked out of the Burbank debate, and apparently got mad and didn't show for the UB editorial board last week.
Cooper admitted during a debate that while off work on disability and receiving a full paycheck for doing nothing for almost two years, he's gone hunting with friends!
Cooper tried to mislead us that Turner's work offer to help out at the front desk was for less than his full pay. He must think we're all stupid. Cooper on disability light duty is entitled to full pay. Doesn't Cooper know the law?
Unlike what Cooper's told us, we've learned that the deputies like their 12 hour shifts, and that jail staff and Walla Walla police have all switched to 12 hour shifts too.
Now, Cooper wants us to believe that there must be something bad in Turner's LAPD file because it's "sealed." I checked, all public employees' files in California are confidential and needs a court order to get in. Also, Turner's files were available to Walla Walla County when he volunteered to be a reserve deputy and checked again for his top secret security clearance for his work in Iraq. Turner has been thoroughly checked out by experts and came out clean. Cooper can't get a top clearance due to his background and bankruptcy, he now wants to be in charge of public money!
With all the police and sheriff department employee endorsements for Turner, morale no longer seems to be an issue either.
Cooper's stories have fallen apart. Retain Sheriff Turner. Juanita Anspach Walla Walla
