Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - Dayton maintained their 2-0 league status by dunking the Asotin Pirates in a quick three sets during an Oct. 2 home game. The Lady 'Dawgs are serving up a promising season, standing 8-3, overall.
Coach Shannon Turner said the team dominated the first two sets playing focused, consistent sets. "We let the third set get ugly by loosing focus and getting anxious for the match to end," she said. But the Bulldogs pulled it together wrapping up three sets, 25-13, 25-6 and 25-19.
The Bulldogs dished out yet another strong night on the serving line with Josilyn Fullerton serving 18/18 with 6 aces and Jenna Phillips serving 12/12 with 2 aces. Lexi Ramirez followed close behind with 15 for 16 and 4 aces and Sarah Phillips served 11 for 12 with 2 aces.
Madison Mings and Lexi Ramirez played strong at the net dishing out 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Bryeana Myrick made 5 kills, 1 block and 2 digs. Sarah Phillips put up 13 assists and 5 digs, and Mia Becker added 11 digs for a strong offense.
"For the most part, the Lady 'Dawgs are working very hard at practice and improving with every match. We are stronger both offensively and defensively than we have been in awhile," said Turner. "We have four home games left, come watch us play and support the Lady 'Dawgs!"
After last week's wins, the Lady 'Dawgs are 2-0 in the league, 8-3 overall.
