Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON - The Dayton Bulldogs football team cancelled their scheduled trip to Touchet last week to play the Indians in eight-man football. They will forfeit the game.
At the end of the previous game, a loss to Taholah at home, the squad had been reduced to nine players, due to injuries and eligibility issues.
According to coach Jerry Dedloff, the team chose not to put players' health at risk with almost no substitutes available. He hopes to be able to suit up more than ten players for this week's home game against LaCrosse / Washtucna / Kahlotus.
The Touchet Indians are undefeated this year and made it to the 2B 8-man finals last year. LWK is winless this year, as are the Bulldogs. Dedloff and his team hope they can salvage a win to end the season this week.
This week's game starts Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Dayton athletic complex.
