Tigers Fall Short in State Title Game

SUMNER - The WP soccer team ended their season with a trip to the Division 2B state championship game here on Saturday. The Tigers fell, 1-0, to Mount Vernon Christian.

On Friday, the Tigers beat Friday Harbor, 1-0, in the semifinal game. Ivan Figueroa scored in the 63rd minute for the only goal of the game. The win moved WP into Saturday's championship game.

In Saturday's game, Figueroa again scored the Tigers' lone goal, this time, in the opening minutes of the game. WP couldn't make their lead stick though, as Mount Vernon Christian scored twice - in the 17th and 29th minutes.
