Lady Cards Lose to Lancers, 62-22

WAITSBURG – The W-P Cardinals girls' basketball team fell to the Liberty-Spangle Lancers, 62-22, in Friday's home-court non-conference match.

Liberty took an early lead, pulling ahead 17-5 at the first quarter and maintaining the lead with the help of Madelynn Flaig who scored 22 game points. WP warmed up to put up a good fight in the final quarters, but missed field goals failed to reflect the improved play. WP coach JT Elsey said turnovers and missed shots were WP weak points.

Senior Analise Salazar was stat leader for the night with seven points, three steals and three rebounds. Freshman Tayler Jones made six rebounds and five steals while adding four points to the score. Senior Leogan Harshman made the only WP three-point bucket of the night and pulled in five points for the team before fouling out.

The Cardinals (0-4) face off against the Weston-McEwen Tigerscots (5-3) on Tuesday, January 6.
