WALLA WALLA – Former Waitsburg city attorney Kristian Hedine, who recently resigned that position following his election as full-time Walla Walla County District Court Judge, sold his Walla Walla law firm, Virtual In-House Counsel, PLLC, to his associate attorney, Jared N. Hawkins on November 25, 2014. Hawkins, who took over Hedine’s role as Waitsburg’s city attorney has changed the name of the firm to Hawkins Law, PLLC.
Hedine started Virtual In-House Counsel (2225 Isaacs Ave., Suite A, Walla Walla) in 2001 with the intent of providing proactive services to clients as if he was an “in-house” attorney. Mr. Hawkins, who joined the firm in 2011, said the firm’s name is one of the things that attracted him but, over the last three years has found that the name can be confusing to clientsand opposing attorneys decided to change it.
Hawkins was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 2004 and joined the United States Air Force as a Judge Advocate in March 2005. He currently serves as a Major in the Air Force Reserve. He is actively involved in several community organizations including Rotary, Boy Scouts and Blue Mountain Action Council’s pro bono attorney program.
Hawkins’ areas of practice include business and employment law, real property and estate planning. As Waitsburg’s city attorney, Hawkins was quickly called to service addressing issues related to the proposed Whoopemup Meadows subdivision.
