Top Ten Facts About the Seahawks

10. According to a fan poll by the web site Reddit.com, the Seattle Seahawks are the most hated NFL team in the state of California. We’ll take that as a compliment. (The most hated team in the Pacific Northwest is the San Francisco 49ers.)

9. The Seahawks’ all-time regular season record against the 49ers is 16-15.

8. In high school, Seahawk cornerback Richard Sherman scored 1,400 on his SAT test (that’s very good). He graduated high school with a 4.2 GPA and graduated from Stanford University with a 3.7 GPA (those are also good.) Since he joined the Seahawks out of college, Sherman has more pass interceptions than any other NFL player. (OK, I know, that’s more than one fact.)

7. During the regular season, the Seahawks travel more than 20,000 miles.

6. During the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the Seahawks defense allowed the fewest yards and fewest points of any NFL team. The last team to lead the league in those two categories for two consecutive years was the 1985 and 1986 Chicago Bears. (Remember the “Fridge”?)

5. This year’s Super Bowl will be the first ever in which both head coaches – Seattle’s Pete Carroll, 63, and New England’s Bill Belichick, 62 – will be at least 60 years old. (This will also be the last Super Bowl that I’m not.)

4. Only three Seahawk quarterbacks have thrown more touchdown passes than Russell Wilson: Matt Hasselbeck, Dave Krieg and Jim Zorn (remember him?). Each of them was with the team at least nine years. Wilson is finishing his third.

3. According to internet sources (and we know they’re reliable) Wilson, who is one of the shortest quarterbacks in the league, has the fourth-largest hands of any current NFL quarterback.

2. With last Sunday’s comeback win against the Green Bay Packers, the Seahawks achieved a franchise winning percentage of .500 for the first time in their history. They are now 319-319 in the regular season and playoffs. What a great way to break .500, when they win Super Bowl!

1. Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch has a tattoo that says “Mamma’s Boy.”
