DAYTON – Dayton resident Marshall Hernandez, 53, of 605 Country Village Court, has been arrested on suspicion of arson, reckless burning, and possession of stolen property.
Hernandez was arrested last Thursday morning without incident, after it was reported that he had set fire to a fifth-wheel travel trailer, a residence and a bag of garbage in the 200 block of South Willow Street in Dayton.
Residents at the location were able to extinguish the fires before any major damage was caused. The fire department responded to verify the fires were extinguished.
Acting on information from citizens reporting possible stolen property in the home, Columbia County deputies executed a search warrant at Hernandez’s Country Village Courts residence the following day, Friday, Jan. 23.
During the search, deputies located several items that had been reportedly taken from the yards of Dayton residents over the past couple of months including several Seahawks flags, a small decorated Seahawks Christmas tree, and a few other lawn ornaments.
Hernandez now faces the additional charge of possession of stolen property. He is being held pending trial for Columbia County in the Garfield County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
