Four officers are selected in second annual award ceremony
WALLA WALLA - The Blue Mountain Lodge #13 Free and Accepted Masons will present awards to top officers from four local agencies in their 2014 Officer of the Year Awards ceremony on Feb. 4. Deputy Richard Schram, Walla Walla Sheriff’s Office; Officer Gunner Fulmer, Walla Walla Police Department; Officer Ashley Daschofsky, College Place Police Department; and Trooper Shawn Williams, Washington State Patrol were selected by their respective agencies for this special recognition.
Deputy Schram is a Sgt. Thomas E. Bowman Deputy of the Year award winner, distinguishing himself as a dedicated public servant during his ten years with the Sheriff’s Office. Schram is an effective investigator, took responsibility for recertifying the department in Taser use, has served on the SWAT team and supervised the Marine Unit program as Marine Patrol Deputy.
Officer Fulmer, as the K-9 handler for the Walla Walla Police department since 2009, has worked with his K-9 partner, Rev, to take illegal drugs off the streets. Fulmer exhibits compassion and goes beyond the call of duty, whether he is purchasing a child a new ball after seeing the child’s ball flattened by a passing car or delivering food to an elderly couple who live in their car.
Officer Daschofsky graduated from police academy in 2013 after leaving the U.S. Marine Corps in 2012. He is recognized for his exemplary performance in the College Place Police Department. Daschofsky is known for his thorough investigative work and shows potential in becoming a detective.
WSP Trooper Shawn Williams has over 25 years as a state trooper and is a Certified Technical Specialist (CTS) and Breath Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Technician. As a CTS, he investigates fatal accidents that result in criminal charges. As a BAC he is considered an expert and forensic scientist in alcohol testing. He also instructs fellow personnel in use of the data program and sobriety test administration. Trooper Williams spends his summers being an umpire for Little League baseball.
The officers will be recognized for their outstanding service at a special ceremony on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Center (607 E. Main) in Walla Walla.
