Good pitching allows WP to come back in late innings after early plate struggles
RICHLAND - After falling behind 4-0 in the third inning, the Waitsburg-Prescott baseball team got their bats going and came back to defeat Liberty Christian, 12-5, in a game here Friday.
Pitchers Talen Larsen, Kyle Gradwohl and Jacob Dunn combined to give up five runs on seven hits. Gradwohl got the win. The three pitchers got a total of ten strikeouts.
The Tigers struggled at the plate all game, stranding eight runners. But they took advantage of late-inning pitching struggles by the Patriots and scored nine runs in the final two frames.
"Our pitching today was outstanding," said WP Coach Dustin Snedigar. "A great effort by all three (Larsen, Gradwohl and Dunn).
"Timing with our hitters at the plate today was out of synch," he added. "We left too many runners stranded."
The Tigers were scheduled to host Mac-Hi Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to wet conditions. It is rescheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m.
