DAYTON – Columbia County Commissioners decided this month to reduce the number of members on the county planning commission from seven to five following the resignation of long-time member Ron Groom. The board had one vacancy already.
“The five there have been members for a long time and will have a better chance of a quorum this way,” County Commissioner Dwight Robanske said.
State law allows for the reduction in planning commission members, and all three county commissioners approved the change. With the cut, Commissioner Merle Jackson’s District 3 is not currently represented on the planning board. The next vacancy on the board will be filled with a volunteer from that district, the commissioners agreed.
