Dayton scores 29 total runs to sweep double-header in Garfield, 14-3 and 15-4

GARFIELD – The Dayton girls’ softball team showed the offense they’re capable of, as they swept Garfield-Palouse/Oakesdale here Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs scored 29 runs on 20 hits, including three home runs in the first game.

In game 1, pitcher Savannah McFarland gave up three runs on four hits for the win. Hanna Becker, Lexie Ramirez and Caitlyn Robins each had home runs. Becker had five RBIs.

In the second game, Dayton took a 4-3 lead into the fifth inning before breaking the game open with 11 more runs. All of the Lady Bulldogs’ 10 hits were singles. Taylor Frame and Madison Mings had two hits and two RBIs each. Pitcher Megan Robins gave up four runs on five hits for Dayton.

“[The girls] hit the ball well in both games,” said Dayton assistant coach Desirae Jones. “Both pitchers had solid games. Savannah did not allow any walks and Megan striking out 11.”
