Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
PASCO – In a field of more than 2,000 athletes from 100-plus northwest high schools, four Touchet Valley athletes gave strong performances Saturday at the Pasco Invite track and field meet.
WP Senior Kobie Brown had a personal best time of 41.15 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles, which was good enough for 12th place. Brown also finished sixth in the long jump, with a distance of 20 feet, six inches. He was 16th in the high jump, at 5 feet, 10 inches.
"He will soon be under 41 and will be in the heat of the state," said WP Coach Jeff Bartlow, of Brown's hurdles performance.
Sophomore Emily Adams set a school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 27.5 seconds. She placed 25th, which shows the strength of the field.
WP Senior Owen Lanning competed in the triple jump, finishing 18th, with a jump of 40 feet, 2.5 inches.
For Dayton, senior Kaitlyn Andrews competed in four events in Pasco. She was 8th in the javelin, with a throw of 118 feet, 6 inches, 15th in the triple jump, 23rd in the 100 meters and 27th in the long jump.
