After first game wins, Lady Bulldogs can't pull off sweep against either league rival
ASOTIN – The Dayton Bulldogs' softball team demolished the Asotin Panthers in Game 1 of Saturday's double-header here, 14-2. Pitcher Megan Robins held Asotin scoreless until the fifth and final inning, giving up just three hits. Dayton scored in every inning except the fourth.
Taylor Frame was three for four at the plate, with five RBIs. Sarah Phillips, Lexie Ramirez and Heidi Dobbs added two hits each to Dayton's total of 12 hits.
"The girls really showed up with the bats today," said Dayton assistant coach Desirae Jones. "They ran the bases well and really made things happen."
In Game 2, the Panther bats came to life, as Asotin scored six runs in the first two innings and were never threatened, as they cruised to an 8-4 win. The Lady Bulldogs outhit the Panthers 11-8, but were unable to put them together consistently.
For Dayton, Frame and Ramirez had three hits each, including Frame's second home run of the day. Phillips added two.
"In game two, we hit well again but we didn't get those opportune hits with runners on," Jones said.

DAYTON – The Lady Bulldogs hosted Tri-Cities Prep on Monday evening and again ran away with game 1 in a five-inning route, this time, 12-2. Sarah Phillips had three hits and four RBIs. Taylor Frame, Madison Mings and Jaidyn Lowe each had two hits.
"The Bulldogs were pretty pumped for senior night and their last league games," Jones said. "They came out with the bats again and were focused for 4 ½ innings to mercy rule the Jaguars in game 1."
In Game 2, Dayton and TCP played evenly through four innings, and entered the fifth tied at eight. But the Jaguars pounded out nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings to overwhelm the Lady Bulldogs.
Dayton outhit TCP 13-9, but the Jaguars took advantage of seven Bulldog errors in the game.
Phillips again had three hits, and Kellie Moore had three RBIs.
"TCP brought the long ball in the second game," said Jones. "We never really rebounded from their big innings, and having so many errors on our part didn't help. Usually 13 hits will win a game, but we need the hits with runners on."
The Lady Bulldogs are 6-4 in the league and 8-8 overall. They host an alumni game Saturday at 11 a.m., and then will likely begin the playoffs with a play-in game Tuesday.
