Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Thanks for a Successful Celebration Days
Dear Citizens of Waitsburg,
Thank you for supporting our 2015 Waitsburg Celebration Days and celebration of our 150th anniversary of Waitsburg! It was a great turnout for everything. As Mayor of this “one of a kind” city, I was so proud of the weekend, but most of all, thanks to the many, many volunteers that made it happen.
I am referring to the Waitsburg Celebration Board and committee members. The committee consists of the following very faithful members: Robbie Johnson serves as vice president, Marianne Newell as secretary, Deanne Johnson as Treasurer. Other Board members are: Joy Smith, Ann Adams, Wendy Richards, Lynne Carpenter, Lisa Naylor, Dena Woods, Ron Standring, Fred Hamann, Debra Callahan, Randy Hinchliffe, and Gwen Gobel. They have been meeting every month since early last fall, and working diligently to achieve this very successful weekend. Their leadership made the difference for our event weekend.
Thanks also to the Waitsburg Old Car group, the American Legion, the PEO Club, the Historical Society, the Commercial Club, and the Lions Club. They all worked and got involved to achieve the best weekend for a long time. Thanks for the youth organizations for their assistance.
Thanks also belong to our major financial supporters: Pacific Power, the Commercial Club, the Waitsburg Lions, Days of Real Sport, and Pepsi of Walla Walla. Without these donations, this weekend would never have been successful. Thanks to many private donors for their donations.
Thanks to the many extra volunteers, helping with the parade, the ATV Poker run, the Karen Huwe Mohney Memorial Ride, the ATV Challenge Course, thanks to our volunteer announcers, Scott Archer and Fred Hamann, thanks to the City Crew for the fine job that they did getting our city ready for visitors!
Thanks to this newspaper for your help sharing the news of Waitsburg Celebration Days all year! The Sheriff’s office was very cooperative with coverage at our events, and for the parade traffic detour.
In all, there are no words to thank you all personally, but I am extremely proud of everything that happened over Waitsburg Celebration Days!
