Blue Mountain Archers to Hold Shoot at Bluewood

Weekend event features Skyline lift service, 2 courses, 3-D targets

DAYTON – The Walla Walla Blue Mountain Archers group is inviting archers of all ages to participate in an archery shoot at Ski Bluewood on Saturday and Sunday. Onsite registration begins at 6 p.m. Friday. Camping and food will be available.

Archers will have two flagged courses to follow, each course starting at the summit, which is served by the Skyline Express lift. One course follows the Country Road trail; the other follows the Tamarack trail. Each course features 40 Rinehart 3-D targets. A free practice range (no registration required) will also be available in the Platter Pull area near the lodge, with 20-, 30-, 40-, and 50-yard bull's-eye targets.

"This will be a fun-filled family weekend in the mountains where it's cooler and you can beat the heat," said Todd Randall, vice president of Blue Mountain Archers. "With lift service, you can ride up the mountain and shoot your way down. We'll have 3-D targets ranging in size from frogs to a full-size moose. We've had a great response so far and are expecting attendance from all over the Inland Northwest."

The event is open to people of all ages and also to observers. For safety, children 16 and younger must be supervised by an adult. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times.

Registration is $11 for adults for one day or $21 for both days. The fee for children ages 12 to 17 is $9 for one day or $17 for both days. The fee for children 8 to 11 is $7 for one day or $13 for both days. Children ages 7 and younger are free. Family registration (parents and children under 18) is $25 for one day or $45 for both days. Weekend lift passes can be purchased for $8 each.

"We're excited to host this great family event," said Kim Clark, Bluewood general manager.

The shoot is presented by the Walla Walla Blue Mountain Archers in partnership with Ranch & Home and Ski Bluewood. More information is available online at bluemountainarchers.com. A trail map can be downloaded at bluewood.com/core/files/bluewood/uploads/files/trail_map.jpg
