Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DAYTON – Summer weather means yard sales, garage sales and special events nearly every weekend. Dayton city workers would like to remind citizens that affixing signs to utility poles violates city code and poses risk of damage to city property. In fact, signs may not be posted on any public property except when authorized. City workers will remove all signs violating city code.
Prohibited signs also include those that interfere with or obstruct any instrument of traffic control or street identifying signs or that cause visual obstruction of any public right-of-way. Signs may not be placed on stationary vehicles or trailers so as to visible from a public right-of-way for the primary purpose of providing advertisement of services or products or for the purpose of directing people to a business. This does not apply to the identification or a firm or its principal projects on vehicles operating in the normal course of business.
