Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Stephenie Nerf is new Worthy Advisor
WAITSBURG – Seven members of the Waitsburg Chapter of Rainbow Girls Assembly #68 spent last week at the International Order of Rainbow for Girls Grand Assembly, held at Yakima’s Sun Dome on July 7-12.
Anna and Stephenie Nerf, Katelynn Martin, Kendra Smith, Kendra Roberts, Jessie Hopkins and Emma Philbrook represented Waitsburg at the annual jurisdictional (Washington and Idaho) convention. The girls attended formal sessions as well as fun events like talent shows and contests.
Jessie Hopkins performed duties as the Grand Washington Flag Bearer and Kendra Roberts served as Grand Religion and Grand Christian Flag Bearer before passing their titles to incoming state officers.
Waitsburg planned and led a general memorial service on Saturday and a special memorial for their past Mother Advisor, Karen Mohney, who passed away this year, on Sunday morning.
Last month, Stephanie Nerf, an incoming senior at Waitsburg High School, was installed as Waitsburg’s Worthy Advisor, assuming duties from Katelynn Martin. Nerf’s colors were light blue and white, her mascot was a Polar Bear and her theme was “Come Chill with Rainbow.” This will be Nerf’s first time holding the position of Worthy Advisor.
During the ceremony, Patricia Wilson was installed as Waitsburg’s Mother Advisor. Wilson, who recently moved to Waitsburg, has been serving as Mother Advisor pro-tem since Karen Mohney’s passing in March.
Current Waitsburg Rainbow officers are: Stephenie Nerf, Worthy Advisor; Devon Harshman, Worthy Associate Advisor; Kendra Smith, Hope; Emma Philbrook, Charity; Anna Nerf, Faith.
