Injuries plague an already undermanned Dayton team
DAYTON – The Dayton Bulldog football team is reeling this week from not only a 62-0 loss to Pomeroy Friday, but also to possible season-ending injuries to three of its top players.
In Friday night’s game in eight-man play, the Pirates rolled up 40 first-half points on the way to its big rout. The pirates had 398 total yards on offense, compared to the Bulldogs’ 129.
Dayton’s first game starting quarterback, Cal Martin, did not play against Pomeroy, after it was discovered he had fractured his wrist in his previous game against Elgin. Tanner Bren started Friday’s game for the Bulldogs.
In the first quarter, Dayton lineman Beau Winkler suffered a broken collarbone. Bren left the game later in the half with a possible concussion. Kobie Sunderlin-Herrin finished the game at QB for the Bulldogs.
For the game, Bren completed four of 13 passes for 40 yards, and suffered two interceptions. Trystan Willis rushed for 91 yards on 17 carries.
Dayton travels to Colton Friday night for its first road game of the season.
