Attorney Karl Moves to Hubbard Law Building

WAITSBURG – Local attorney Julie Karl recently moved Karl Law Office from its previous Dayton location on 527 Cameron St. to a newly remodeled office in the Hubbard Law Building on Waitsburg's Main Street. Karl's practice is separate from building owner and attorney Michael V. Hubbard's practice, but the two attorneys share a receptionist.

Karl said she moved to Dayton in 1999 and worked for the Columbia County Prosecutor's Office for 13 years. While employed at the prosecutor's office, Karl earned her law degree and passed the bar exam in 2013. She stepped out on her own, opening Karl Law Office, in late 2014.

Karl and her family moved to Waitsburg about 10 years ago, and she says enjoys now being able to work here as well.

"It's a win-win, being able to work in town where my kids are. And it's lonely being by yourself!" she added, laughing.

Karl said she also appreciates the opportunity to glean knowledge from Hubbard in areas that she's had less experience in such as land use and probates.

"Mike has a lot of knowledge in things that I don't know so I'm hoping to learn some things from him," she said.

As for business, Karl, who just moved to the new location on Sept. 8, says things are going well.

"Not only do I have my base in Dayton where I know a lot of people, but I'm now getting clients in Waitsburg and Walla Walla," she said.

Karl specializes in family law cases such as adoptions, dissolutions, and estate planning, as well as criminal defense.
