Adams places 5th in girl's race
CLARKSTON – The Cardinals X-C team had a great day in sunny Clarkston, Wash. at the Seaport Invite on Sept. 19, said Coach Ann Adams.
Emily Adams ran the three-mile course in a personal record time of 19:49 for a 5th place finish, out of 49, in the girl's varsity race. "She ran solid and determined, passing on the big hill and finishing with a strong kick," said Adams.
Emily said the race was a barrier-breaker. "I ran my first three-mile that was under 20 minutes. For some that may not mean a lot, but for me, it's a major goal accomplished," she said.
In the boys varsity race Landon Callas again set a personal record for the course with a time of 17:29 and a 16th place finish. "he pushed hard, had a goal and exceeded his expectations,' said Coach Adams.
Skylar Wood also ran strong and steady, exceeding his race goal for a personal record time of 19:33, placing 40th out of 74 varsity runners.
In the boys JV race Tom House ran strong, sprinting to the finish in 22:21 for 52nd place while Joe Leamy at his heels for a solid 22:43 time and 53rd place. Korben Duffy ran his first race with the team and performed well, said Adams.
The Cardinals race next at Big Cross in Pasco on Wed., Sept. 23. in the first District 9 League meet of the season. Then, on Sat., Sept. 26 the Cards travel to Lewiston for the Inland Empire X-C Klassic.
