Live Art Demos at Wenaha Gallery

DAYTON – Richland watercolorist Lisa Hill, who is the Wenaha Gallery Art Event artist through Oct. 17, will be in the gallery, Sat., Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., giving live watercolor demonstrations as part of Art Walk. Local jewelry artist Anna Steinhoff of Blue Mountain Made will join Lisa during the Art Walk event.

Hill became a student of art before becoming an artist and is fascinated with the science of watercolors.

"I'm going out on a limb here since I haven't painted with oils or acrylics, but I think success with watercolor techniques requires a higher level of scientific knowledge of behavior of water and light, and the mechanics of vision, specifically color and value perception," Hill said.

Hill loves gardening and says it's natural that the subjects she enjoys painting the most are flowers and foliage.

"I don't think I am making a statement by painting these things – I just love them. Maybe that IS the statement," she said.
