Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WALLA WALLA – Each year the Blue Mountain Community Foundation awards grant money to a wide variety of organizations to help support programs that benefit local communities. Several organizations in Waitsburg, Prescott, and Dayton were the recipients of the foundation’s recently awarded 2015-16 discretionary grants.
The City of Waitsburg received $1,200 for its sesquicentennial celebration.
Waitsburg’s Cardinal’s Nest after-school program, received $5,000.
The Waitsburg Historical society received $1,000 toward a new security alarm system.
The Waitsburg School District was awarded $1,500 toward the purchase of ban instruments.
Waitsburg’s Rural Youth Enrichment Services was awarded $3,400 to be used for the Touchet Valley Acoustic Music project and the Waitsburg Youth Giant Pumpkin Growers project.
The Prescott Joint Park & Recreation District received $3,500 for new playground equipment at Field View Park.
The Prescott School District was awarded $5,000 for their after-school program.
Dayton’s Touchet Valley Arts Council was awarded $2,500 towards opera and children’s theater projects.
The next grant cycle will begin with applications made available in May of 2016 and due in July. Tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organizations in Columbia, Garfield, Walla Walla, and Umatilla counties are invited to apply. Grant awards generally range from $1,000 to $10,000.
