Lady Dogs Maintain Winning Streak

DAYTON – The Lady Dogs won two away league-play matches last week, against DeSales and Prescott. The Dogs dropped the Irish in three sets (25-10, 25-20, 25-19) on Tues, Sept. 22, followed by a win over the Tigers (25-16, 25-8, 25-13) on Thurs., Sept. 24.

Bulldog Coach Shannon Turner said her team hustled and played with a lot of enthusiasm to take the win against their longtime Irish rivals. She said her team showed great focus, playing in the noisy DeSales gym.

Stat leaders at the DeSales match were Josilyn Fullerton who served up a perfect 12/12, with two aces, five kills, eight assists and 11 digs. Jenna Phillips served 12/12, with two aces, 10 kills, 5 blocks and 5 digs. Mia Becker also had perfect service with 16/16, one ace, one kill and 10 digs.

Hanna Becker served 10/10 with one ace 5 kills, 13 assists, three blocks and eight digs and Megan Robins served 14/15, with two aces, one assist and three digs.

Turner said she was impressed with the energy and enthusiasm showed by the Tigers. Stat leaders for the Prescott game were Jenna Phillips with 12 kills, six digs and two service aces; Josilyn Fullterton with eight kills, 11 assists, and four serving aces; and Mia Becker with 11/11 service and two aces.

Megan Robins was top server with 17/18, six of them aces. Hanna Becker served a perfect 12/12, with three aces, and put up 11 assists and seven kills.

The Bulldogs have a home conference match against Walla Walla Valley Academy on Tues., Sept. 29, followed by an Oct. 1 away match against Tri-Cities Prep.
