Bulldogs fell to WWVA and TCP last week
DAYTON – The Dayton Bulldogs volleyball team had a tough week, losing league games to WWVA on Tues., Sept. 29 and to TC Prep on Thurs. Oct. 1.
The Bulldogs played hard against Tri-Cities Prep, but ultimately fell in four sets: 17-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-27.
Josilyn Fullerton served a perfect 15/15 and Megan Robins dished out a perfect 18/18. Fullerton also scored two aces, nine kills, 10 assists, three blocks and ten digs. Jenna Phillips served 15/17 with two aces, seven kills, two assists, 13 blocks and 20 digs. Hanna Becker added six kills, 10 assists, three blocks and 17 digs, while Kaleigh White, served 15/17 with five kills, two blocks and 12 digs.
The Lady Dogs fell to the Walla Walla Valley Academy Knights in three very close sets at Bulldog court on Sept. 30. The Bulldogs lost 25-27, 22-25, 22-25.
"We played hard and did a lot of good things. At the end of the match, we just had a few more unforced errors than they did. It was a good competition with long, fun rallies," said Bulldog Coach Shannon Turner.
Josilyn Fullerton served up a perfect 15/15, dished out one ace, three kills, seven assists, one block, and eight digs. Jenna Phillips Served 7/10 with two aces, 10 kills four blocks and 11 digs. Mia Becker served 10/12 with one ace, two kills, two assists and 13 digs. Hanna Becker served 9/11, with two kills, 10 assists and one block. Megan Robins served 13/14 and dished out two aces and three kills.
"We lost two league matches this week, but played tough and only lost by a few points. We lack varsity experience. We're young, but have all the components to be a strong team. We just need more floor time – more experience on the court. That will help us to cut down on the number of unforced errors and score points when we need to," said Turner.
