Sheriff's Office Accepts Reserve Deputy Applicants

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for Reserve Deputy Sheriff. Traditionally, citizens are interested in serving in this volunteer, unpaid position as a first step towards a career in law enforcement or as a way to give back to their community.

WWSO Reserve Deputies are fully commissioned peace officers that serve on a part-time, unpaid basis. They are required to serve a minimum of 16 hours per month and service generally consists of working patrol, training, and quarterly meetings. After reaching a specified number of hours worked, reserve deputies may qualify for assignments such as marine patrol and detective bureau.

Interested applicants must submit both a written assessment and a WWSO employment application. Applications will be accepted from Oct. 5 until the close of business Oct. 23. Successful applicants will be invited to a meeting where the remainder of the selection process and commitment will be fully explained.

A complete application packet can be found at http://www.co.walla-walla.wa.us/departments/she/index.shtml. Hard copies are available at the Sheriff’s Office front desk (240 W. Alder, First Floor) during business hours. Contact Chief Deputy Shanda Zessin at (509) 524-5400 or szessin@co.walla-walla.wa.us with questions.
