Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
The Prescott Tigers volleyball team gave the Waitsburg Cardinals a run for their money during an Oct. 20 game on the Tiger court. The Cardinals ultimately took the win in five sets: 25-19, 18-25, 22-25, and 15-10.
“Overall, we didn’t’ have our best night but the girls were able to play tough in the fourth and fifth sets to get the win. Prescott played extremely scrappy and kept us off balance for a majority of the night,” said Cardinal Coach Angie Potts.
“Awesome! That’s what I’ve got to say about our girls. They left it all on the court tonight!” Tiger Coach Bob Young said. “That was easily our best match of the year. Hats off to the Cardinals, though. They cut down on their errors in the last two sets. I’m so pround of each Lady Tiger. Each gave tremendous effort tonight,” he added.
Ariel Sandau scored 12 assists, five kills, eight digs and three aces for the Cardinals while Bailey Adams pitched in 14 digs and five aces. Catilyn Jones made 16 digs and four aces, Taylor Hays had five kills and seven digs and Devon Harshman dished out 14 kills.
The Lady Tigers were paced by the serving of Jocelyn Granados, Perla Xolio and Yoali Ortega with five aces each. It was senior night for Prescott and the seniors didn’t disappoint. Athziry Amezcua, Ruby Rosales, and Perla Xolio left their mark on the game with leadership and energy, Young said.
