Prescott Gets New Christmas Tree

Prescott Plaza will be transformed into a ‘Winter Wonderland’

PRESCOTT – Prescott residents are excited to turn the recently renovated Prescott Plaza – located between the Tuxedo restaurant and the library – into a winter wonderland this year.

A sparkly new commercial Christmas tree will replace the overgrown Blue Spruce, in front of the post office, that has traditionally served as the town tree.

Tuxedo Bar and Grill owner Pam Stueckle said restaurant patrons raised about $600 through drawings and donations, but that the Prescott Lions Club made the new tree purchase possible by donating the bulk of the $2,400 purchase price.

Stueckle said they purchased the tree from a company that works specifically with small communities. She said large commercial, pre-lit trees, which are intended to be placed outdoors, can run anywhere from $800 to $8.000 and will last for a very long time.

“It’s going to look really cool in the Plaza when it’s all lit up at night. We’re going to be really proud of it,” she said.

Stueckle said the tree has been ordered and should arrive shortly after Thanksgiving.
