Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
WAITSBURG - Many Waitsburg groups are offering families a helping hand this holiday season. Several are listed below for those in need or those willing to donate or lend a helping had.
Waitsburg Resource Center: The Resource Center provides food and resource referrals to members of the Waitsburg and Prescott school districts. Families may visit once-a-month to receive non-perishable food, meat, potatoes, and eggs. The center accepts both food and monetary donations.
Christmas Basket Donor Program: Families, groups, individuals or businesses who wish to provide a Christmas Basket for a Waitsburg family in need will be able to fill out a recipient card to do so. Cards will soon be available at the Presbyterian, Christian and Catholic churches as well as Waitsburg Hardware and Mercantile. Updates and deadlines will be posted in The Times as they are received. Families in need of Christmas baskets should contact any of the churches listed.
The Kids Big Give Thanksgiving Baskets: The Kids Big Give will pack and deliver Thanksgiving dinner boxes on Sat., Nov. 21 at the elementary school multipurpose room. Donations, box packers and delivery people are all welcome. This is a family activity and children are encouraged to attend with their parents. Donations may be dropped off on Nov. 21 at Jamie Gleason’s house at 424 Powell St. Keep updated at The Kid’s Big Give Facebook page.
Gleason’s Galley Thanksgiving Dinner: Gleason’s Galley will serve a Thanksgiving Dinner to anyone who needs a place to go from 2-6 p.m. on Thurs., Nov. 26th. Karen still needs three turkeys, bags of seasoned bread crumbs, pies and Cool Whip. She is also in need of volunteers to help cook before the dinner and to serve on Thanksgiving Day. Toys for Tots: Families who wish to sign up for Toys for Tots can contact Rosy Nechodom at the Waitsburg Elementary School for registration forms.
Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes: Shoeboxes packed with gifts and school supplies for children in Third World countries will be collected until Nov. 23 at the Waitsburg Chapel (320 W. 2nd). Boxes may be left in the collection box inside the church foyer. See story on Page 1 for more details on Operation Christmas Child.
