Freshmen and sophomores are high scorers
PRESCOTT – The Lady Cardinals basketball won their first game of the season against the Prescott Tigers on Fri., Dec. 4 on the Tiger court with a score of 65-26.
The Cards dominated the first quarter, ending with a score of 17-0, with freshman Devon Harshman scoring 10 Waitsburg points.
Prescott freshman Briseida Ayala made the first Tiger goal at the top of the third – a three-pointer that brought an enthusiastic Prescott crowd to its feet. Prescott warmed up to score 12 points in quarter two, ending the quarter at 37-12, Waitsburg.
The Cardinals maintained their lead throughout the game, ending quarter three at 57-20 and quarter four at 65-26.
Top scorers for Waitsburg were Harshman with 19 points and sophomore Chloe Pearson with 11 points. Junior Taylor Hays with next in line with nine points and scored Waitsburg's lone three-point goal of the night.
Briseida dominated the Prescott scoreboard, making 16 of the Tigers' 26 points, and three, three-point buckets. Freshman Flores Nayeli brought in four points, with senior Ruby Rosales adding another three.
