Dayton Girls Win Three Games

DAYTON – The Dayton Girls' basketball team had a big week last week, with three victories, including a win over league rival Asotin.

On Friday night, the Lady 'Dogs hosted Asotin and came away with the win, 58-49. Dayton took a 30-21 lead into halftime and then played even with the Panthers in the second half.

"I thought we played pretty well for about 3 quarters," said Dayton Coach Clayton Strong.

Jenna Phillips led the Bulldogs with 19 points, including two three-pointers. She also pulled down 12 rebounds. Sidney Andrews had 17 points and Shayla Currin scored 12.

Dayton 76, Prescott 26

PRESCOTT – On Saturday night, the Prescott Lady Tigers hosted Dayton, and the Bulldogs got a lopsided league win, 76-26. Dayton led from the start, building leads of 18-7 after one quarter and 47-15 at the half.

The big lead allowed Dayton to play all of its reserves. "We were able to play everyone who suited down a bunch," said Strong. "And everyone had a chance to score at least 1 point."

Sidney Andrews paced the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points and Kellie Moore had nine. Josilyn Fullerton and Shayla Currin each scored eight points.

For Prescott, Nayeli Flores scored 11 points.

FINLEY – On December 15, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Finley to face River View, and came away with the victory, 38-29.

In a low-scoring start, Dayton took a 19-10 lead into halftime and then held on for the win. High scorers for the Lady Bulldogs were Sidney Andrews and Shayla Currin, with ten points each. Jenna Phillips had seven rebounds and four assists.

Dayton was to travel to Colfax on Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs currently have a 5-1 overall record, including 2-0 in league play.
