Dayton Boys Fall to Colfax

COLFAX – The Dayton boys’ basketball team went on the road on Dec. 22 and were handed a lopsided defeat by a tough Colfax squad, 61-36. The loss put Dayton’s record at 2-5 going into the holiday break.

Nearly all of the Bulldog scoring came from two players: Ben Kleck, with 17 points, and Zach Waggoner with 13. Kleck dropped in two three-pointers, and Waggoner pulled down seven rebounds.

After a strong first quarter, Dayton trailed 15-12, but their offense sputtered in the second. The Bulldogs fell behind 30-18 at the half.

“We missed some easy (shots) inside, that had we hit them, would have kept us in the game longer than we were,” said Dayton coach Will Hutchens, adding, “We turned the ball over too much.”

Dayton next plays Pomeroy at home on Tuesday.
