Owen Lanning Earns Top Scores for L-C Warriors

CHENEY – Lewis-Clark State College freshman Owen Lanning, son of Mark and Joanna Lanning, of Waitsburg, made top scores in the men's track and field indoor heptathlon – a seven-event competition – at the Eastern Washington University Candy Cane Invitational in Cheney on Dec. 5.

Lanning's score of 4,037 points automatically qualified him for the national competition and is the third best mark in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) to date. Nationals will be held in Tennessee in March.

Lanning's best event at the EWU meet was the 1,000 meter race which he won with a time of 2:53:92. The Warriors compete next at the Idaho Open in Moscow on January 16.
