DAYTON – The Dayton girls’ basketball team hosted Walla Walla Valley Academy on Feb. 9, in the first round of the District 9 sub-regional playoffs, and coasted to a 46-34 win. The victory set up a Friday rematch with co-league champion DeSales.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 15-7 lead after the first quarter, and held on to lead 19-17 at the half, before going on an 18-4 run in the third quarter.
For the game, Jenna Phillips lead her team with 16 points, including a three-pointer. Sidney Andrews scored 10 points, and Madison Mings and Shayla Currin each had eight. Mings downed two three-pointers and had three assists. Andrews and Mings each had seven rebounds.

WALLA WALLA – The Dayton girls won the matchup of co-league champions here Friday night, downing DeSales in their home court, 54-40. The win gave the Lady Bulldogs the number one seed going into the sub-regional playoffs this week.
After taking a 27-12 lead into the half, Dayton survived a 19-9 Irish run in the third quarter, before finishing with a big run of their own in the fourth to take the win.
For the second game in a row, Jenna Phillips led her team, knocking down 13 points. Madison Mings added 11, including three three-point shots, and Josylin Fullerton scored 10, including a three-pointer. Shayla Currin pulled down 11 rebounds.
