Kellie Moore gets walk-off RBI single to end game in eighth for 9-8 win
DAYTON – The Dayton girls’ softball team overcame a four-run deficit to defeat Colton here Monday night, 9-8. The winning run came on a walk-off RBI single by Kellie Moore in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Colton scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead. The Lady Bulldogs got one back in the bottom of that frame, and then tied it in the sixth with three runs on a bases-clearing double by Heidi Dobbs.
After a scoreless seventh, the game went to extra innings. Colton pushed one run across in the top of the eighth, but the Lady ‘Dogs came back with a rally to win. Dobbs got a fourth RBI with a bunt that scored Tatumn Laughery from third. On that play, Mia Becker moved from first to second. She then scored on Moore’s single for the win.
For the game, Becker, Moore, Madison Mings and Megan Robins had two hits apiece. Moore had three RBIs and Dobbs four.
