Cardinal boys win ten events, Adams wins four more, to dominate District 9 meet

DAYTON – Emily Adams won all four of her events at the District 9 track and field meet in Dayton on March 29. Adams took firsts in the 100, 400 and 800 meter races, as well as the triple jump.
Also for the Cardinal girls, sophomore Clarissa Espana took third in the 1600 meter race, and junior Stephanie Nerf was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles.
Landon Callas had a big day for the Cardinal boys, winning both the 110 and 300 meter hurdle events, as well as anchoring the winning 4 X 100 meter relay team.
Travis Crockett won the 200 meter race, as well as the high jump, with a six-foot leap.
In the field events. Waitsburg swept the first three places in the discus, with Brandon Penner winning, followed by Zion Branson and Mark Montgomery. Branson won the shot put, while Montgomery took fourth.
Joe Leamy also had an outstanding day, winning the 100 meter race and taking third in the 200. Skylar Wood was third in the 1600 meters.
The Waitsburg boys also swept the first three places in the triple jump, with strong leaps by Nicolas Kitselman, Cameron Terry, and Andre Potts.
For the Dayton girls, Angela Mascall was second in both the 100 and 200 meter races. Alexus Wanlarbkam was also second in the 100 meter hurdles.
Neylan Bryan won the long jump and Emily McFarland was third in the javelin, as well as the 400 meter race.
For the Bulldog boys, Cal Martin's javelin throw of 124 feet nine inches was 25 feet short of his personal best, but still good enough for the win. Martin was also third in the shot put.
Hayden Woodridge took second in the 110 meter hurdles, and Tay Haggins was third in both the 100 meters and the long jump.
