Local beekepers Mark and Eleanora Montgomery came to the rescue after last Wednesday's track meet in College Place to remove a bee swarm that had made its home in the large Maple tree outside the high school earlier that day.
Teacher Roseann Groom described the swarm's arrival as a "scene from a horror movie" as the huge, black cloud of bees headed straight for the tree. "Fortunately, they were only interested in the tree and not us!" she said.
Mark said the bees were somewhat aggressive and weren't interested in going inside the box he provided like they typically would.
