Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Dear Editor:
Waitsburg Celebration was another huge success, thanks to a bunch of involvement from the community, its citizens, and its organizations. We are so proud to be living in this town, and enjoying our annual celebration as it is now and remembering the way Waitsburg has celebrated this weekend in May for so many years!
The event(s) could never have happened without the help of many people in this city. First, the Celebration Days Committee: they started meeting in October and have worked tirelessly throughout the entire fall, winter and spring. People involved are: Robbie Johnson, vice-president, Marianne Newell, secretary, Deanne Johnson, treasurer. Directors are: Joy Smith, Wendy Richards, Jim Davison, Lisa Naylor, Ann Adams. Others involved were: Dena Wood, Jim Romine, Ron Standring, Bill Clemens, Fred Hamann, Scott Archer, Dan McKinley, Randy Hinchliffe, Dr. Carol Clarke, Denise and Andy Winnett.
Second are the many oganizations that were willing to get involved. The sheriff’s office, the fire department, the Waitsburg Commercial Club. The One of a Kind Auto Show, WCD Parade volunteers and judges of the parade committee, our parade marshals, Larry and Pam Conover, the American Legion and Auxiliary, the Waitsburg Historical Society, the Waitsburg Lions, PEO, Rainbow Girls, Ye Town Hall Board, the entire City of Waitsburg staff, cowboy church people: Rev. Brett Moser and K C Kuyendall.
Third are the businesses in town that were willing to support the many events. First of all: The Times; they have been supportive the entire year, thanks for that support, Ken, Dena and staff. The many that advertised, especially Joy Smith for her hours of work on the advertising of this event.
We are proud of this town and its spirit of volunteerism. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! See you next year? Volunteers willingly accepted! You are invited.
Walt and Gwen Gobel, Co-Chairs
