Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day Celebration

LOWDEN – The Frenchtown Historical Foundation invites the community to participate in the fifth annual Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day Celebration on Sat., June 25 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Frenchtown Historic Site located at 8364 W. Old Highway 12, two miles west of the Whitman Mission.

St. Jean-Baptiste Day has been observed annually since 1834 throughout Canada and parts of the U.S. to honor the birthday of Quebec’s patron saint, and French-Canadian culture. This year’s celebration will feature a tour of the Hudson Bay farm, site tours of the newly restored Prince’s cabin, a presentation of plans for further restoration of the St. Rose of Lima cemetery (the oldest Catholic cemetery in the area), as well as food and entertainment for all ages.

Schedule of Events:

10 a.m .: Free tour bus leaves Frenchtown site for the Hudson Bay Farm tour, returning by noon.

12 p.m .: Free potato bar lunch at Frenchtown site.

12-4 p.m .: Events at Frenchtown site including tours, demonstrations, children’s activities, and music.
