Questions For the Citizens of Waitsburg

Dear Editor,

Questions that you may be interested in finding the answers to:

What city council person convinced the council to allow him/her to manage the fairgrounds, then hired his/her son from the profits?

Which city council person failed to advise the council of this action, and apparently failed to have a “scope of work” contract in place?

What city council person is unable to keep his/her personal beliefs from playing a part in his/her decisions that affect the whole city?

What city council person has demonstrated a personal vendetta against our city administrator?

Which city council person apparently violated the laws/rules governing an executive session?

What city council person successfully divided his/her church and is apparently well on his/her way to doing the same to our city?

What city council person decided he/she no longer wished to manage the fairgrounds after his/her son left for college?

What city council person, after an agreement that all profits would be used for fairgrounds maintenance, and after more than a year, has failed to account to the city of any profit or loss, and has not transferred any funds to the city?

What city council person became extremely upset because the city did not advertise the two open city maintenance positions in the Seattle area?

What city council person attempted to force an illegal vote at a public hearing?

Which city council person likes to demonstrate his/her self-assumed power by trying to dominate city council meetings?

These questions concern me. I am alarmed that the citizens of Waitsburg are being represented by some city council members that are leading them without keeping the best of the City of Waitsburg in mind. If you care about Waitsburg and our quality of life, I encourage you to ask the questions and become involved by attending the city council meetings. Keep in mind that there may be council members that have violated your trust.

Walt Gobel
