Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
Dear Editor
It has been my privilege to know County Commissioner Jim Johnson for nearly 30 years. Jim’s commitment to his family and his record of service to our valley are well known. Jim’s appointment to complete the unexpired term of former Commissioner Gregg Loney in 2012 and subsequent election to his first full term has given Walla Walla County a proven leader whose background in accounting and finance as well as a long time business owner has been invaluable to the residents of our valley.
I respect his leadership and offer, as an example of his dedication, his decision last week to travel and support the Mill Creek Coalition by spending 3 days urging Corps of Engineer and congressional budget staff to fund a study to determine the condition of Mill Creek’s flood control system and its aging infrastructure in lieu of being available to campaign for re-election. His decision will benefit our citizens.
As a County Commissioner Jim has proven time and again that his pragmatic, non-partisan approach to his responsibilities is just what is needed on our Board of County Commissioners. Jim’s willingness to work with local leaders, both inside and outside of government, and his ability to bring people together to find solutions to issues affecting our community is the kind of leadership our citizens cannot afford to lose. Please join me in voting to keep Jim working for our citizens as Walla Walla County Commissioner, District 1.
