WHS senior is excited to represent student opinions at council meetings
WAITSBURG – Waitsburg High School seniorTimber Frohreich will be sworn in as Waitsburg City Council's student representative at the regular Nov. 16 council meeting.
Frohreich said she applied for the position to take advantage of the opportunity to better learn how the community operates and runs.
"Many of our students are deeply involved in our small town's life, and I'd like to become even more involved by joining the city council's team. I feel I am well prepared for this position from my experiences in FFA and Leo's. Through both of these organizations I've gained public speaking and presentation skills," Frohreich said.
"I plan to expand my skills and use them in the monthly meetings, along with giving the student body's thoughts and opinions. Most of all, I'd love to bring the knowledge and passion of our high school to the attention of our city as a whole," she added.
Frohreich has participated in athletics throughout her high school career. She plays varsity volleyball, and is in her third year of cheerleading. This will be Frohreichs fourth spring to play softball, and she served as team captain last year.
She is a four-year FFA member and served as student body secretary last year. She served as Leo's club president last year and is secretary this year. She is currently senior class president and has served on both the prom and homecoming committees.
Frohreich will be the sixth student representative to serve on Waitsburg's City Council. Student representatives do not vote, but do offer input on council decisions and report on student-related events and issues.
Previous representatives include: Fletcher Baker (2011), Logan Dozier (2012), Meara Baker (2013), Emma Philbrook (2014), and Stuart Walsh (2015).
"I'm so grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to see where it will lead me," Frohreich said.
