Taylor Hays scores 10 in Waitsburg girls’ losing effort
MILTON-FREEWATER – The Waitsburg girls’ basketball team hit the road on Dec. 7, crossing the state line to take on the Pioneers of Mac-Hi. But they came away with a loss, 40-31.
The loss dropped the Lady Cardinals to 0-2 on the season. Friday’s game home game against Touchet was postponed until Tuesday, due to weather conditions. Saturday’s game at Gar/Pal was also cancelled and will be rescheduled.
At Mac-Hi, the Waitsburg girls kept the game close in the first period, but fell behind, 15-10 at halftime. Waitsburg’s offense couldn’t get on track in the third quarter, as the Pioneer girls built the lead to 27-15
For the game, Taylor Hays had 10 points and Lexi Brannock scored nine. Each sank one three-point shot. Devon Harshman had six points.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to travel to Pomeroy on Friday night and host Oakesdale on Saturday.
