WAITSBURG - More than 130 alumni, friends, and family members attended the 113th annual Waitsburg Alumni Reunion and Banquet held at the Waitsburg Elementary School multipurpose room on Sat., May 27.
The Karen Huwe Mohney Alumni Exemplary Service Award for 2017 was awarded to Ivan Keve. Ivan was ill and unable to attend so JK Keve and Jani Keve accepted the award on his behalf. A huge wine barell-top clock, crafted by Frank Reser, was auctioned to highest bidder Bob Collins of Walla Walla, with proceeds going to the WHS Alumni Scholarship Fund.
Current WHS Alumni officers are: Elizabeth Wood Cole ('77), President; Chelsey Murdock Smith ('03), First Vice-President; Frank Reser ('69), Second Vice-President; Paige Wood ('15), Secretary; Patty Mantz ('63), Treasurer; Darleen Smith Dozier ('78), Past President. Advisory Board members are Margie Gagnon Benson ('66), Jeff Broon ('64), Jim Leid ('69), and Wes Leid ('63).
