Circus, demo derby, and rodeos will bring excitement to the arena
DAYTON—There will be something for everyone at the 2017 Columbia County Fair, which takes place this year on Sept. 8-10.
Step right up and see if you have what it takes to win Freddie’s games! Freddie Prez is bringing games and contests to the fair, including the chance to win $10,000 in a Frisbee contest.
Catch Freddie Prez roaming the Midway on Friday from 3-4:30 p.m., from 5:30-6 p.m., and from 7-9:30 p.m. On Saturday, Prez will be on the Midway from 3-3:30 p.m., and from 5:30-6 p.m., and again from 7-9:30 p.m. On Sunday Freddie Prez will be on the Midway from 10-10:30 a.m., 11:30-noon, and from 1-1:30 p.m. for the $10,000 Frisbee toss challenge.
Professor Bamboozle, professional comedian, magician and balloonist returns this year to also perform his own brand of street magic on the Midway on Friday from noon-3 p.m. and 4:30-7 p.m. On Saturday Professor Bam.boozle will appear on the Midway from noon-3 p.m. and from 4:30-7 p.m. See Professor Bamboozle’s act on Sunday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and from 2:30- 4:30 p.m. on the Midway.
Paul Isaak will combine his skill as a juggler with his own brand of merriment when he performs on the Midway stage on Friday and Saturday, from noon-3 p.m., and 6-7 p.m.. Look for his performance again on Sunday at 10:30-11:30 a.m. and at 1:30-2:30 p.m. on the Midway stage.
Penelope the Clown will be performing a spectacular variety show with juggling, magic, and storytelling, with expert animal balloons, and elaborate face painting. She will roam the Midway on Friday from 11-noon, 3-5:30 p.m., and 7-8 p.m.. Penelope can be seen roaming the Midway on Saturday from 11-noon and from 3-5:30 p.m., and in the evening from 7-8 p.m.. Watch Penelope will perform on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. and from 3:30-4:30 p.m..
Billed as the “Biggest Little Circus in the World”, the Wenatchee Youth Circus, featuring high wire, flying trapeze, fire, and aerial acts, returns to the fair this year. The circus will take place in the arena on Friday night at 7 p.m..
The musical line up for this year includes a trip back to the good old days with Switchgrass Delta, an acoustic folk and bluegrass band who will perform on the Midway stage from 11-noon on Saturday.
Walla Walla solo musicians Kit Crawford and Mari Gisele Craddock will be performing at the fair for the first time this year.
Singer/songwriter Kit Crawford will bring his energetic performance to the Midway stage on Sunday from 2:30-3:30 p.m., and Mari Gisele Craddock will bring the sounds of soothing, jazzy tones and the sweet acoustic strums of her guitar to the Midway stage on Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m., and on Sunday from noon-1 p.m.
Solo musical artists Diego Romero and Michael Parker will return this year.
Romero, a singer and blues guitar virtuoso, will make his appearance on Saturday from 3:30 -4:30 on the Midway stage.
Expect everything from redneck lottery winners to stalkers, to dust bowl whiskey peddlers and zombies when Michael Parker, the “Bar Room Poet.” brings his special take on the sounds of country music to the Midway stage on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. Parker’s alternative band, The Golden Ponies, released its debut album “Unstabled” in 2016 and it was named one of 2016’s Essential Country Albums by SavingCountryMusic.com.
With paid admission, on Friday at 9 a.m., there will be a free fair breakfast under the grandstand, sponsored by Columbia County Cattlemen Lifestock Association.
Breakfast on Saturday is sponsored by Columbia County Marksmen 4-H Club, and will be held in the Youth building from 7-9 a.m..
Exhibits are shown throughout each of the three days, from the time the fairgrounds are open to the public at 9 a.m. each day until 9 p.m. on Friday and on Saturday, and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
On Sunday, a breakfast is sponsored by Northwest Farm Credit Services, served and prepared by the Columbia Robotics 4-H Club and Dayton FFA, from 8-10 a.m..
Be sure to check out the Rascal Rodeo at 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, and the Jackpot Rodeo at 6 p.m. in the arena, on Saturday night.
Chicken Church in the Chapel is in the livestock barn at 10 a.m. on Sunday and the Demolition Derby is in the arena at noon on Sunday. A Livestock Costume Contests will take place on Sunday, at 2 p.m. in the livestock barns and an ice cream social will be held on the Midway at 3 p.m..
Passes to the fair may be purchased at the gate.
A single-day pass is $10 for adults, $5 for juniors, and $5 for seniors.
A three-day pass is $22 for adults, $10 for juniors, and $10 for seniors.
Children under the age of 6 attend for free.
Admission for arena and special events is included in the gate admission.
On Friday bring five canned food items and receive a single day pass.
