Wayman Frank Sinden

February 11, 1929 - August 31, 2017

Wayman Frank Sinden, 88, died August 31, 2017 at his home in Walla Walla, WA.

Wayman was born February 11, 1929 in Payette, Idaho to parents Frank and Alta Sinden. He grew up in Weiser, Idaho, graduating from Weiser High School in 1947. He married Eula Mitchell in 1950. They would have celebrated their 67th anniversary on September 10, 2017. He graduated with a degree in Vocational Agriculture and a minor in Livestock from the University of Idaho. Wayman was part of the Army Reserves for 30 years, including proudly serving in South Korea during the Korean War. When he returned from Korea he began a life-long career as a beloved and memorable teacher. He taught Agriculture in Waitsburg from 1955-1958 before moving to Walla Walla, where he taught Science and math, first in College Place 1958-1961 and then Walla Walla 1961-1979. The last 8 years before his official retirement he worked at the WW Waste Water Treatment Plant. Wayman and Eula had 4 children, raising them on their small farm south of Walla Walla. Wayman was active in his community, spending his time as a volunteer firefighter with Walla Walla Fire District #4 for 25 years, being active in the College Place Lions, and being a long-time boy scout leader. He enjoyed participating in the local Retired Teacher's and Reserved Officer's Associations. He was an active member of the Walla Walla Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, for which he and his wife served two missions in their retirement years. Wayman always had a story to tell, remembered most every person he ever met, and never met a person who he didn't enjoy getting to know.

Wayman was cherished by, and will be missed by his surviving family: his wife Eula, Son Dr. Donald (Linda), Daughter Kathy, son David (Necia), son Daniel (Candy), a sister, Erma (Don) McLean, brother Gary (Carol) Sinden, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grand-children, one great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law John and Maxine Sinden.

His service will be held at 9:30am Friday, September 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1821 S. 2nd, Walla Walla, WA. An interment with full military honors will follow at the Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, 300 SE Myra Road, College Place, Washington.
