Dayton Girls Fall to WWVA, Sweep L-C

COLLEGE PLACE – The Dayton Volleyball team fought a hard match here on Sept. 26, but fell to Walla Walla Valley Academy in five sets, 21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 22-25, 14-16.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled at the start of the match, dropping the first set before winning the next two sets convincingly. After WWVA evened things up by winning the fourth set, Dayton came within a point of sealing the match in the final set, taking a 14-11 lead. But they couldn’t hold on, as WWVA won the next five points to take the match.

Hannah Becker had four aces on 23-of-25 serving. She also had eight blocks and 14 assists. Megan Robins was 25-for-25 serving, with five aces. She also had eight digs and three kills. Scully Castorena had 10 kills, eight assists and two blocks and three digs. She was nine-for-10 serving.

Dayton over Liberty Christian, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13

RICHLAND – The Dayton girls traveled to Richland last Thursday and easily swept Liberty Christian, 25-13, 25-17, 25-13.

Kaleigh White was 22-for-24 serving, with five aces. She also had six kills, three blocks and six digs. Hanna Becker had eight kills, eight blocks, 10 digs and 15 assists. She was seven-for-seven serving. Megan Robins was nine-for-nine serving with four kills and 10 digs.

In Eastern Washington Athletic Conference play, Dayton is 1-1. They are 5-2 overall. The Lady Bulldogs were to host Tri-Cities Prep on Tuesday and travel to Mabton on Thursday. They will host White Swan next Tuesday.
